Playground Marking Scheme
The aim of the playground markings scheme is to increase the level of school based physical activity and play as well as increasing the number of children who are active. Playground markings offer children the opportunity to be physically active during their school day and encourage children to take part in active games that can help them to develop physically. The nature of the games is such that even the least active children can get some enjoyment from playing the games. Playground markings include: mazes, circuits, hopscotch, compass and adaptation games, all of which can be utilised to offer a range of fun and exciting games for children.
In the past few years the Laois County Council in association with the Laois Sports Partnership have been running the Playground Marking Scheme and many primary schools in the area have already taken part in the scheme. We are currently inviting primary schools in the area to participate in the next phase of the scheme which will see 7 more schools receiving the playground markings in 2010.
